Just over a month ago we got some glorious footage of Louis Tomlinson making a fish finger sandwich, all to raise awareness of childhood food poverty in the UK.
Louis teamed up with Full Time Meals an initative created by Footballer Marcus Rashford and Chef Tom Kerridge which aims to end childhood food poverty.
They do this by teaming up with supermarkets in the UK such as Sainsbury’s ,the Co-Op and Waitrose encouraging familes to cook together and teaching them how to quick and easy meals, cheaply in the hope that no child will ever have to go to bed or school hungry, putting an end to childhood food poverty.
Louis tried his hand at the Fish Finger Sandwich or the Fish Finger Butty if you are from up North. The resulting sandwich looked pretty good.
The video which was uploaded to social media began with Tom Kerridge showing Louis had to do the recipe with Louis in turn showing famillies how they can adapt any recipe to suit their own needs with him saying “We’re doing it my way.”
For the fish finger butties: (This recipe will serve 4 people)
12 fish fingers
8 slices of bread
2 large tomatoes
For the sweet cucumber ribbons:
1 tbsp malt vinegar
A pinch of sugar
For the coleslaw:
¼ iceberg lettuce
2 tbsp light mayonnaise
What was amazing about Louis using his huge platform to raise awareness of childhood food poverty was that Birdseye announced after the video aired that they were doubling their donations to Fairshare UK which also helps to combat childhood food poverty and is an organisation both Louis and his 1D bandmate Liam Payne have both raised awareness of before.
