Review: Louis Tomlinson wows at his home town gig in Doncaster

Louis Tomlinson performed an unforgettable gig in his hometown of Doncaster as part of his hugely anticipated and critically acclaimed world tour.

Ok, so we are a bit biased. We love Louis. But the Donny boy wonder making a triumphant return home to Doncaster was always going to be something a bit special, wasn’t it?

Louis told the sold-out crowd out the infamous Doncaster Dome, that the gig was a moment he’d been waiting for, for over 11 years.

It was a moment that Louis and the fans who attended will never forget.

There were two opening acts, Only the Poets an unsigned band who accompanied Louis for all the shows on the UK and Europe legs of the tour. They have fully been embraced by Louis’s fanbase. They are a band that knows how to get a crowd singing along, which they did and knew every word to the five songs they sang.

The Outcharms also took to the stage, a local band from Doncaster they are definitely a band to watch and were given a very warm reception by the crowd.

Louis took to the stage just after 9. Opening with the very aptly titled ‘We Made It’. He then proceeded to sing song after song from his debut album Walls only missing one track, Much to the delight of the crowd he threw in a few nods to his One Direction era with ‘Drag Me Down’. Little Black Dress’ and ‘Through the Dark’. He also sang two new unreleased tracks ‘Copy of a Copy of a Copy’ and ‘Changes’. giving fans a sneaky piece of the sound they can expect from his highly anticipated second studio album. A couple of covers of tracks from Kings of Leon and Catfish and the Bottlemen rounded out the packed but extremely well balanced set list,

Louis Tomlinson live at Doncaster Dome as part of his world tour.

Louis’s band, Michael Blackwell, Zak Craner, Isaac Anderson, Matt Dinnadge and Steve Durham played phenomenally helping Louis to create a wonderful atmosphere where music was the key focus.

There were some memorable moments led by the fans who were keen to show Louis just how much they love him and how proud they are of all he has achieved so far and his career and for all the great things he will to continue to go on and do. Signs saying welcome home were held up as part of an organised fan project signalling how pleased they were Louis had come home to Doncaster.

‘Only the Brave’ was another emotional moment, fans once again uniting to show and thank Louis for continually allowing them a safe space to feel loved, accepted and supported.. Louis and his entire team often go above and beyond to make sure fans feel comfortable and safe at his shows. He is an artist who constantly thanks his fans and who regularly talks about the special relationship they share with each other.

The Doncaster show was a very special show for Louis and his fans it was a moment both will look back on with fondness and pride. With Louis selling out his entire tour, venues being upgraded to try and meet demand, gigs like this will always be magical. But anytime you get to experience Louis Tomlinson live is one that will stay with you forever. His command of the stage, his raw vocals which play beautifully with his emotive lyrics are all reasons why Louis is an artist many of us will gladly go and see for years to come!
