If I Could Be With You is the latest novel from author M W Arnold. It is the seventh book in the Broken Wings series.
May 1944. It’s the build-up to D-Day, for which the girls of the Air Transport Auxiliary Mystery Club are busy delivering the aircraft sorely needed, and the search goes on for a Nazi spy, who has information which cannot be allowed to get into enemy hands.
For one of the girls, her husband is badly burned after his Mosquito is shot down, bringing the war closer to home than it’s ever been.
With danger at every corner, the girls’ unbreakable bond is put to the test like never before. Through it all, they stand firm, taking all the war can throw at them before daring it to try again.
If I Could Be With You is full of twists and turns. Having read previous books by the author, I thought I knew what to expect. And while we got the same love and meticulous research as in his other books, I also got lots of surprises I wasn’t expecting.
It brings the realities of war closer to home for the ladies in ways they could never fathom, and they are all dealing with their own personal issues. What I really enjoyed about this one was that while there is a central plot, there are lots of smaller subplots that help you to get to know and really understand the ladies.
So when the deep bonds they have are tested, you truly understand how they feel and what motivates them.
A brilliant and intriguing read that is a great addition to the series.
