Avalon Sky is the latest novel from author Jill Todd. It is the second book in the Pevensey series.
Some secrets should never be told.
Some crimes can never be forgiven.
Following a private tragedy, TV historian Kit Pevensey and his wife Lissa seek respite in the quiet of rural Somerset to compile a village history for a friend.
But when their friend vanishes without a trace, the Pevenseys’ research stirs memories of dangerous secrets. Amid the deceptive peace of the Somerset Levels and Lundy Island, a killer plans the perfect murder – and Kit must face his own demons, whilst battling to prevent the crimes of the past from tearing a family apart.

Avalon Sky is the first book I have read by Jill Todd, and I really enjoyed it. It has strong characters who despite not reading the first book in the series, I felt I understood them well by the end of this book.
The vivid descriptions of the scenery help you fully visualise what is happening and really enhance the story. While it’s quite slow to start, it makes sense as the story progresses and the plot unfolds into a riveting murder mystery, with lots of subplots that keep you intrigued.
Overall, an enjoyable read, and I will definitely read more books from Jill in the future.
