Aruba Red has released her new single, Candle Magic, offering another glimpse into her forthcoming album Latent Echo.
The album will be released on physical formats on 30 October, before arriving digitally on 24 December, with Candle Magic following recent singles Kalliope and Lilac Glycerine.
Blending jazz-inspired instrumentation with elements of folk, dub and alternative music, the new track explores healing, resilience and spirituality. For Aruba Red, the song was inspired by a difficult period in her life, including a lengthy family court case that came to an end shortly after the events reflected in the lyrics.
Latent Echo has been shaped by several years of personal challenges, including chronic illness, endometriosis, POTS and chronic pain. During her recovery, Aruba Red travelled to Somerset to work with Ivor Novello Award-winning songwriter Renell Shaw and producer Camilo Tirado, setting themselves the challenge of writing eight songs in eight days. Those sessions would go on to form the foundation of the album.
The release also marks the start of a unique rollout, with Aruba Red planning to unveil new music on each full moon through to December. She will also perform Latent Echo live in full for the first time at London’s World Heart Beat Embassy Gardens on 14 October, joined by collaborators Renell Shaw and Camilo Tirado.
Alongside her music, Aruba Red is also the founder of organic clothing brand Aruba Red Treasured and works as a trained radical birth keeper, while also creating guided meditation resources for pregnancy and postpartum support.
Rather than simply reflecting on the challenges she’s faced, Candle Magic looks firmly towards what’s come after them. As another step towards the release of Latent Echo, it introduces an album centred on healing, creativity and finding a way forward.
