Angus & Julia Stone have released Celestial Bodies, the third single from their upcoming seventh studio album Karaoke Bar, which arrives on 4 September.
Following previous singles Karaoke Bar and Monroe, the new track pairs the duo’s signature harmonies with a steady, hypnotic groove, while reflecting on some of life’s biggest questions.
Celestial Bodies also has one of the longest creative journeys of any song on the album. It was first written on the Greek island of Hydra during a Saharan dust storm that turned the sky red, before being developed at France’s Miraval Studios and eventually completed back in Australia at Angus’s Sugarcane Mountain Studio in New South Wales.
That sense of travel runs throughout Karaoke Bar. Written and recorded across Greece, France and Australia, the album draws on the different places where the songs came together, with each location leaving its own mark on the record.
Since releasing their debut album A Book Like This in 2007, Angus & Julia Stone have become one of Australia’s best-known musical exports. Their breakthrough album Down the Way introduced Big Jet Plane, while later projects have included collaborations with Rick Rubin and the award-winning soundtrack for Life Is Strange.
Their previous album, Cape Forestier, was released in 2024 and was followed by a sold-out international tour, including shows at London’s Royal Albert Hall, Paris’ L’Olympia and New York’s Town Hall.
With three songs from Karaoke Bar now released, Celestial Bodies offers another glimpse of what listeners can expect when the album arrives on 4 September.
