Jamie Rafferty has released So I Can Let Her Go, the second single from his upcoming debut EP Detached Observations, which arrives on 4 September.
The new track follows debut release Back At 25 and continues to introduce Jamie’s thoughtful approach to songwriting. Drawing inspiration from his upbringing in the small Scottish village of Croy, his songs often centre on everyday people, familiar places and the stories that are passed from one generation to the next.
While some of the songs are rooted in personal experience, So I Can Let Her Go blends local folklore with universal emotions, exploring how stories evolve over time while remaining relatable to anyone who’s experienced love and loss.
Detached Observations also features collaborations with Seton Daunt, Owen Lewis, Elliott Blaufuss and singer-songwriter Luke Sital-Singh.
Music has been part of Jamie’s life from an early age. Growing up surrounded by everything from brass band music to Simple Minds and Oasis, he first picked up the drums aged five before teaching himself guitar after seeing Noel Gallagher perform live.
Although a career in music felt like an unlikely path where he grew up, Jamie quietly wrote and recorded his own songs before eventually sharing them with family and friends. Encouraged by the response, he began performing locally before gradually stepping onto bigger stages, including King Tut’s, Barrowland Ballroom and TRNSMT Festival.
This September, Jamie will take another step forward with headline shows in London and Manchester before returning to Glasgow for a hometown performance at The Attic at The Garage.
