Sometimes you just need a ridiculously fun love song, and Ruby Roberts has delivered exactly that with her new single Magnetic Love.
Out now via 7AM Records, the track captures that all-consuming stage of liking someone where patience has basically gone out the window. You want them, you want the adventure that comes with them and, as Ruby repeatedly declares in the chorus, you want it now.
And honestly, Magnetic Love is incredibly infectious.
There’s a gorgeous summery freedom running through the track, with Ruby creating an entire little world around the relationship rather than simply telling us she’s falling for someone. There are seaside drives, days spent kicking rocks along the beach and wonderfully specific lines about “toothpaste kisses on a Saturday”.
It makes the whole thing feel like snapshots from a romance you somehow want to be part of.
But it’s Ruby’s personality that really makes Magnetic Love stand out. Her songwriting jumps from wanting to become a “passenger princess” to imagining herself as “Lady Diana if she got to the throne”, with a Marlon Brando reference thrown in for good measure.
It probably shouldn’t all fit together quite as naturally as it does, but that’s half the fun.
The result is a love song that feels playful and a little bit dreamy without becoming overly sweet. At its heart is the simple excitement of finding someone you’re completely drawn to, eventually bursting into the euphoric refrain: “It’s a magnetic love, and I need it, I need it, I need it now.”
Ruby has already been testing the song out live too, including during her debut performance at Reading and Leeds Festival, where fans were apparently singing the lyrics back before it had even been released.
“I’m so excited for this song to be out in the world,” she said. “I wrote it with this really carefree, romantic feeling in mind, so I love the idea of it now becoming part of people’s own experiences and memories.”
Magnetic Love follows Bad Girl July, but shows a very different side to Ruby’s music. While its predecessor ventured into some darker emotions, this time she seems far more interested in throwing the roof down and seeing where the night takes her.
It’s another glimpse at why Ruby has been attracting so much attention despite only releasing her debut single Trampoline in April 2025.
Originally from just outside Glastonbury and now based in Bath, she brings together influences ranging from David Bowie, Kate Bush and Lily Allen to Lana Del Rey and Chappell Roan. But rather than simply sounding like a combination of those names, Ruby is beginning to build a pop world that feels distinctly her own.
And things are moving pretty quickly.
She has already accumulated more than 25 million streams, completed a sold-out UK headline tour and made her Reading and Leeds Festival debut, all within around eighteen months of releasing her first single.

Fun, romantic and packed with personality, it’s the sort of song that makes you want to stick it on in the car, put the windows down and pretend for three minutes that you’re living in your own slightly ridiculous romantic movie.
