Step’s singers and former SMTV Live presenters H and Claire have revealed they have filmed footage for an upcoming show which will celebrate 30 years of Ant &Dec working together, as the much loved and iconic Saturday TV show is a huge part of their career.
SMTV Live was arguably one of the biggest Saturday morning children’s TV shows in the late ’90s and early 00’s, hosted by Ant & Dec and Cat Deeley, it helped to make all three household names.
The show began in August 1998 and quickly established itself as the Saturday morning TV show to watch, creating a friendly rivalry with BBC’s Live and Kicking. With it’s memorable and hilarious sketches such as challenge Ant, Anty and Decky, Cat the Dog, Chums and Wonky Donkey. It had celebrities desperate to be on the show, and viewers wanting to appear on it too.
Rumours have been floating around for a couple of years that some sort of reunion was going to happen.
Recently the much loved trio were spotted together in London, further highlighting that a reunion is happening.
And now H & Claire, confirmed on H’s radio show on BBC Wales that they had been filming for an SMTV celebration show after they posted photos of themselves online. Fans thought they were reforming H & Claire (they aren’t), they were quick to correct listeners and tell them that they had been filming for a celebration show and got to sit and watch old clips from when they had presented it and performed on it both as a duo and with Steps.
