Having read many of Zarah’s other works our excitement for Be My Endgame was high. Although the fact it was largely set around football made us wonder if we would connect with the story seeing as how we know very little about the game, other than attending one match at Manchester United years ago!
We needn’t have worried. It was fun and engaging, and the chemistry between the two main characters literally oozes off the page. It’s a perfect build of a relationship and it makes total sense for the characters and story development.
It’s well-paced. Intense at times because you kind of want to shake them both and say get it together, but to having feelings like that while reading is the sign of a good book as it shows how invested you are with it on an emotional level. It’s also a sign of a very talented author who knows how to draw in their readers with their story and characters.
