Sound the synths and plug in the keytar — SOPHIE GREY. is back, and she’s not here to play (unless it’s on her vintage Roland Juno). The retro-electro wizard just announced her brand-new EP, Just Another Sonic Monday, landing May 30th via Cherrytree Music Company. The drop follows hot on the heels of her shimmering synth-pop single, On Hold — an eighties-tinged earworm that’s already stuck in your head even if you haven’t heard it yet.

In true SOPHIE GREY. fashion, the announcement came wrapped in digital mystery. “You’re on your phone, flipping through your apps and your screen suddenly flickers. You try to go back to your TikToks, but a message appears in neon: ‘Just Another Sonic Monday™.’ This Retro Electro EP is now downloaded. Push Play,” she teases.

SOPHIE isn’t just riding the synthwave — she’s the one generating it. Armed with her trusty synth-axe and a fierce DIY ethos, she writes, arranges, performs, and produces every beat herself. A classically-trained pianist (shoutout to USC’s Thornton School of Music), SOPHIE studied under GRAMMY-nominated legend Dr. Patrice Rushen, aka the mastermind behind “Forget Me Nots.” Yep, that one.

From her Kansas City roots to late-night sessions at LA’s iconic Village Recorder Studios, SOPHIE has been blending soul, hip hop, and glossy ‘80s neon into her own sparkly sonic cocktail. Think Prince meets Grimes at an underground roller disco. Her sound? She calls it “Retro Electro,” which is also the name of her 2024 album that’s still turning heads and turning up on playlists.

And it doesn’t stop there. This summer, SOPHIE is joining actual music royalty — yes, STING — on his European arena tour, while also squeezing in solo shows at SXSW, Amsterdam and London. Not to flex too hard, but she’s also fresh off TV appearances with Shaggy on Good Morning America and a tour stint with AGT’s Lily Meola.

So if you haven’t jumped on the SOPHIE GREY. train yet… what are you waiting for? She’s building a retro-future one synth line at a time, and trust us — Mondays have never sounded this good.
