JP Saxe has officially unveiled Make Yourself At Home, the second chapter of his two-part album released via Arista Records. The new instalment features seven songs that delve deeper into emotional vulnerability, self-reflection, and the complexity of trying to become the person you truly want to be. It follows Articulate Excuses, released earlier this spring, which centred on the behaviours and thought patterns that can quietly shape (or sabotage) our relationships and self-image.
The Toronto-born, L.A.-based artist has spent much of the last few years on the road, including a sold-out A Grey Area world tour in 2024 and a string of collaborative releases with artists like John Mayer, Camilo, Lizzy McAlpine, and Tiny Habits. His debut single “If the World Was Ending” remains one of the defining love songs of the last decade, with over 2 billion streams globally.
This new release includes JP’s take on R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion,” woven into his song “I Haven’t Said Enough”—a track he describes as an attempt to stay emotionally open in a world that often pushes us toward emotional shutdown. After months of writing verses that didn’t quite click, JP began singing the chorus of “Losing My Religion” over his melody in the studio. The pieces suddenly aligned. He reached out to R.E.M. for permission, and to his surprise and gratitude, they said yes.
Speaking about the full album, JP says, “This album is about how sometimes I find home by leaving it. It’s about learning new languages to love in. It’s about wondering if what I want is really what I want, or just what I haven’t had. It’s about learning to tell the difference between running to something or from something.”
The project began with Articulate Excuses, which introduced tracks like “SAFE,” an exploration of masculinity co-produced by Malay (Frank Ocean, Lorde), and “SMARTPHONE MAKE ME DUMB,” a meditation on how modern life distances us from ourselves. The shift into Make Yourself At Home feels like a continuation of that inner dialogue—less about identifying the problem, and more about what comes next.
One early release from the new chapter, “STRANGERS” featuring Argentinian pop star TINI, captures the uneasy moment when a close relationship starts to feel unfamiliar. It’s one of several tracks that showcase JP’s ability to fuse raw emotional content with highly relatable themes.
To support the album, JP will launch the Make Yourself At Home Tour this fall, beginning in Canada and continuing through the U.S., South America, and Mexico.
