James Morrison will release his new album Fight Another Day on October 3rd.
Following the success of the title track — which spent five weeks on the BBC Radio 2 playlist — James now shares Little Wings, the latest single from the album. The song blends classic soul with gentle instrumentation, featuring harmonica lines inspired by Stevie Wonder and backing vocals from Andy Platt (Young Gun Silver Fox) and Connor Reeves.
The project marks a return to personal songwriting for the BRIT Award-winning artist, who has previously earned two UK Number 1 albums and a string of hit singles.
Lyrically, Little Wings reflects on family and the quiet comfort found in everyday life. It sits alongside The Man Who Can’t Be Loved and Fight Another Day in previewing the album, which explores themes of resilience, reflection and emotional renewal.
James says, “This song[Little Wings] was inspired by the joy my daughters bring me every morning, and the timeless music of Stevie Wonder, whom I’ve been listening to a lot recently, and throughout my life. It’s a heartfelt tribute to both Stevie and my daughters — capturing the warmth, love, and inspiration they give me. It’s one of my favourite tracks on the album.”
Fight Another Day sees James working in a more stripped-back style, shaped by both personal experience and musical influences rooted in soul and acoustic pop. The new material highlights his vocal range and songwriting with a focus on clarity and emotional honesty.
James will support the album with a headline tour in September, with dates already sold out except for Glasgow. He also recently announced a series of in-store events featuring acoustic performances and signings. Due to demand, five more sessions have been added to the schedule.
