Perrie returns with her new single If He Wanted To He Would, out now, and confirms the release of her debut solo album, Perrie, on 26 September 2025.

If He Wanted To He Would’ is a confident, upbeat pop track written from the perspective of a best friend offering honest advice about a toxic relationship. Built around live instrumentation and layered harmonies, the song allows Perrie’s vocals to take centre stage. It was written by Perrie alongside Nina Nesbitt — who also appears in the video — and The Nocturns, with whom she has been working on her recent material.

The video, filmed in a palace setting, references well-known romantic comedies including The Holiday, Bridesmaids and Pretty Woman, reinforcing the song’s theme of empowerment and perspective.

If He Wanted To He Would follows a series of solo releases from Perrie throughout 2024, including Forget About Us, which reached the UK Top 10 and has since accumulated over 51 million streams. By the end of the year, her solo releases had passed 98 million combined streams.

During a break over Christmas 2024, Perrie paused work on her debut to reassess the direction of the album. Many of the original songs were set aside as she returned to the studio with a new focus. The result is a revised body of work that reflects a clearer sound and a more personal point of view.

Perrie reflects on the last 9 months: “At the end of last year I was feeling so much pressure to release music and move quickly. I wasn’t happy and didn’t feel like the music I was releasing was right. During one of my therapy sessions, my therapist said if you’re not happy just take away that pressure and stop for a bit. She was right and I decided to press pause on my music.

I went back in the studio and spent time writing songs that were totally authentic to me and about subjects that were close to my heart, without the pressure of having to hit a release date. I absolutely love the album I have created and I’m really proud of it. This is the music I want to make and I’m super excited to release it to the world this October. I hope you love it as much as I do.”

Recorded over the past nine months in her home studio, ‘The La La Room’, the album brings together influences from Motown, disco, country, 80s pop, and her rock-and-roll roots. While diverse in style, the tracks are connected by Perrie’s vocal performance and a strong lyrical thread.

Perrie will include previously released singles Forget About Us and You Go Your Way, along with new material written with a close group of collaborators. The album reflects a period of creative reset and marks a new chapter in her solo career.
