The Fatal Farandole is the latest novel from author Ana T Drew. It is part of a series featuring murder mysteries set in Provence, Paris, and other corners of France.
A beloved Provençal festival.
A murderous conspiracy.
A bull-racing star who knows too much.
When two local chefs are killed within a week, shockwaves ripple through the region’s tight-knit culinary world.
Gluten-free baker Julie Cavallo suddenly finds herself the prime suspect.
As whispers turn to accusations, her eccentric family closes ranks, and her loyal friends rally to her side.
Unfortunately, Julie’s running out of time. Her pastry shop is at risk. Her love life is unraveling. The gendarmes are watching her every move. Julie can’t afford to wait for the official investigation to clear her name.
Her instincts go into overdrive. Dots connect. Patterns appear…
But asking the right questions has already cost others their lives.
Can Julie solve this case yet before the killer strikes again?

The Fatal Farandole is one of the most interesting cosy mysteries I have read in a long while, as it’s quite gritty. It also has a lot of emotional depth to the story, it’s not just all murder.
Julie is a great character who finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Her knack of getting information is fantastic, a skill we wish we all had.
A very enjoyable read that has made me want to go back and read the rest of the books in the series.
