Ferris & Sylvester have released their deeply moving new single, Tiny Little Love, offering another glimpse of their forthcoming album It’s A Joy To Be Alive, which arrives on 14 August.
While the album explores themes of hope, resilience and finding light during life’s most difficult moments, Tiny Little Love carries an especially personal story.
The song was written just before the birth of Issy Ferris and Archie Sylvester’s son, who arrived prematurely while the pair were in Nashville for what was meant to be a short work trip. Instead, they found themselves spending weeks far from home as their son received care in a neonatal intensive care unit.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding those early days, Issy has spoken about the kindness shown by the doctors and nurses who cared for their family, describing it as the place where they truly got to know their son.
That perspective runs through Tiny Little Love. Gentle and understated, the song reflects the fear, hope, and unconditional love that can coexist during life’s most challenging moments. Its heartfelt lyrics are made all the more poignant knowing the circumstances in which they were written.
Issy Ferris says, “This song came to life in a terrifying moment. Our son was hours away from being born seven weeks early, we were thousands of miles from home touring in Nashville and we had no idea what the future held. It was our lullaby. Just like the rest of this album, we realised that writing about hope holds a lot more meaning in the hard times. That’s where the stuff of life is. Where you find out what you’re made of. Where you feel your outer edges. That’s what writing this song felt like.”
The release follows a run of singles that have each revealed a different side of It’s A Joy To Be Alive. From the country-influenced Jealous to the bluesy energy of 5-4-3-2-1 and the laid-back warmth of Fishing Song, the album promises a collection that moves between genres while remaining rooted in the duo’s signature harmonies and honest songwriting.
Beyond the music, Ferris & Sylvester have also become patrons of the pregnancy and baby charity Tommy’s, helping to raise awareness and support for families who experience pregnancy and baby loss or complications.
If Tiny Little Love is any indication, It’s A Joy To Be Alive won’t simply be an album about overcoming difficult moments. It feels like a celebration of the love, hope and resilience that can emerge because of them.
