Salmon Cat are heading beyond London for the first time this September as they make their Dublin debut at Other Voices, which will also mark the band’s first ever festival appearance.
The London-based band brings together Mac Wetha on production and vocals, Biig Piig on vocals, and frequent NiNE8 collaborators Alfie Jackson and Harry Hayman on guitars and songwriting.
Together they make raw, colourful and chaotic music that leaves plenty of room for noise, bleed and laughter, something that has helped them build a cult following over the years. Clairo and members of Gorillaz are already among those who have shown their appreciation for the band.
Salmon Cat have actually been making music together since 2016, although it wasn’t until 2024 that they finally took it to the stage.
The band began with school friends Alfie and Mac making a Liam Lynch-inspired fake Mac DeMarco song together. When close friend Jess came over and added vocals, it led to their first track Trip To Dusseldorf.
Since then, releases have appeared sporadically, while Salmon Cat have continued to put the music and art at the centre of what they do.
After two years of performing in London, Salmon Cat will head across to Dublin this month for their first show outside the city and their first festival slot at Other Voices.
With Mac Wetha and Biig Piig already creating some brilliant music individually, and the four members having spent years collaborating in various forms, Salmon Cat brings all of those different creative threads together.
And we’re very excited to see a lot more of them.
