Suffolk four-piece AFTERDRIVE have released their debut EP Dress To Drive, bringing together recent singles Fashion, Neon View and Jewellery alongside new track Fake License Plates.
The four songs are connected by a story that follows someone becoming increasingly caught up in desire, appearances and the need to escape, with things gradually spiralling out of control.
Produced by Thomas Mitchener alongside the band, Dress To Drive moves through attraction, obsession, recklessness and eventually loss, giving the EP a darker storyline beneath AFTERDRIVE’s energetic pop-rock sound.
The final track to be released, Fake License Plates, will already be familiar to fans who’ve seen the band live, having become a regular part of their set before receiving an official release.
“Fake License Plates is a song we wrote a little while back and we’ve been playing it in our shows and so many of our fans wanted it released so very excited that’s now being shared with everyone,” the band explain.
“Fake License Plates is about that late night headspace where you’re already wired and reckless, about doing something you shouldn’t be doing and somehow getting away with it, like you’re invisible from all the consequences.”
The EP arrives after a particularly busy year for AFTERDRIVE, who’ve spent much of 2026 performing across the UK and further afield.
They began the year with a sold-out headline show at The Waterfront Studio in Norwich, before joining The Entitled Sons on tour and heading across the UK and Europe supporting Maggie Lindemann.
There have been some big festival appearances closer to home too, including a headline slot at Ipswich’s new Halo Festival at Trinity Park, where they shared the line-up with Two Door Cinema Club and The Vaccines. They also supported McFly at Borde Hill.
Meanwhile, their singles have been picking up support from BBC Radio 1, with Alyx Holcombe playing their music on both the Indie Show and BBC Introducing Rock Show, alongside further support from Jess Iszatt and BBC Introducing’s Angelle Joseph.
Now AFTERDRIVE are taking Dress To Drive out on their own headline tour.
The band played a sold-out hometown show at Baths in Ipswich on 19 September, with two more dates coming up later this month.
They’ll perform at Birmingham’s O2 Institute 3 on 24 October before heading to London’s Islington Academy2 on 27 October.
It’s a chance for fans to hear the full EP live, including Fake License Plates, which they’ve been asking the band to release for some time.
