If you’ve ever wanted to experience the food of Le Gavroche but never had the opportunity to visit the famous London restaurant before it closed, Cunard is offering another chance – although this time, you’ll need to head out to sea.

The luxury cruise line has announced five new Michel Roux Culinary Residencies aboard Queen Anne for 2027 and 2028, giving guests the opportunity to enjoy dishes inspired by the two-Michelin-starred restaurant while exploring Norway and the Norwegian Fjords.

Le Gavroche closed its doors in January 2024 after more than five decades, but its culinary heritage has continued through Cunard’s Le Gavroche at Sea, which launched the same year.

Queen Anne is now the only place where guests can enjoy the Le Gavroche dining experience, with Michel returning for three sailings in 2027 and a further two in 2028.

The highlight of each residency is Le Gavroche at Sir Samuels, an intimate dining experience featuring a specially created tasting menu inspired by some of the restaurant’s most celebrated dishes.

With just 50 guests able to attend each evening, it’s a rather lovely opportunity to experience Michel’s cooking in a much smaller setting than you might usually expect on a cruise ship.

And there will be a couple of familiar faces for anyone who remembers dining at Le Gavroche in London.

Twins Ursula and Silvia Perberschlager, affectionately known as ‘The Sisters’, will also be joining the residencies. The pair spent more than 20 years working at the restaurant, becoming well known to regular guests for their hospitality.

But the food isn’t the only reason to book one of these sailings.

Michel will be hosting live cooking demonstrations, talks, Q&A sessions and book signings, giving guests the chance to hear more about his career and experiences in the kitchen.

There will also be a specially created three-course Gala menu available in Queen Anne’s main dining rooms, meaning guests won’t necessarily need to secure one of the limited tasting-menu places to enjoy food inspired by the residency.

Seafood lovers will have another option too, with Oysters at Carinthia offering an enhanced seafood menu each evening in the ship’s Carinthia Lounge.

Speaking about the return of the residencies, Michel said: “Working with Cunard on Le Gavroche at Sea has been a wonderful experience, and I’m delighted to continue the partnership.

“Today, Queen Anne is the only place in the world where guests can experience the spirit of Le Gavroche in this way, bringing together exceptional food, great company and unforgettable travel.”

Cunard President Paul Ludlow also confirmed that the response to the dining experience since its launch in 2024 has been incredibly positive, with guests continuing to look forward to the special sailings.

All five residencies will take place during seven-night voyages, with the 2027 programme including one Norway sailing in May and two Norwegian Fjords departures in August and September.

In 2028, Michel will return for a Norway and Denmark voyage in May, followed by another Norwegian Fjords sailing in June.

For anyone who loved Le Gavroche, or simply enjoys good food and the opportunity to learn from the people creating it, these sailings offer something a little different from a traditional cruise.

And with the Norwegian scenery outside while you’re enjoying dinner, it’s certainly not a bad setting for a meal.
