Review: Isaac Anderson live at Bodega Nottingham was a very special evening

Isaac Anderson recently did a gig at Bodega in his hometown of Nottingham. The room was absolutely packed with his friends, family and fans who had travelled from all over the world.

The gig was to support the release of his second EP ‘Fingers Crossed’. Support came from Remy CB who sang some fantastic tracks including ‘Low Moon’, ‘Deep Dive’ and ‘Come Back Now’,as part of an acoustic set with guitarist Ollie. The atmosphere they created definitely got the crowd ready for Isaac.

Having been fans of Isaac since he was creating music as part of Fast Car to Florence, it was wonderful to see him live performing tracks from his second EP.

As a touring session guitarist with Louis Tomlinson, touring the world and opening for Only The Poets on their recent European tour, he’s begun to hone his craft even more. Those opportunities have simply done wonders for his confidence as an artist, in his own right. It was clear for all to see at Bodega that Isaac thrives on a live show. Completely at home on the stage playing his guitar and singing the songs, he wrote in his bedroom.

From his cover of Hosier’s ‘Take me to Church to songs from both his EP’s including ‘St Pancras’, ‘This Could Be Paradise’ and ‘Love in Conversation’. It was a jam-packed set list which really highlighted Isaacs mesmerising voice and his charisma on stage as a musician.

A lovely touch was the acknowledgement he gave to the band playing on stage with him, who he told the crowd that they’d been playing music together for about 8 years and they’d paid for many different types of events such as weddings together. So he felt it was pretty special to have them up there performing with him at such an important and pivotal moment in his solo career.

There is only one tiny criticism we have about the gig which was it ended. We could have listened to Isaac sing all night.
