Claire Richards is arguably one of the best voices in modern pop history. She can make any song sound good, as evidenced by her long career making music as one-fifth of Steps and her debut solo album My Wildest Dreams, which was released in 2019. Her second highly anticipated solo album, Euphoria, is a poptastic feel-good gem and was one of our favourite releases of 2023.
Euphoria is certainly aptly titled; it’s a record that makes you want to get up and dance from start to finish. It’s full of classic songs from women who have inspired Claire throughout her career, with Claire giving them her unique take.
Gone are the ballads she has become somewhat known for. In their place is an album full of disco and dance-inspired tracks that just make you feel so good when listening to them.
“Every single song is a banger – listening to this album just makes me feel good,” she says. “I want
everyone to whack it on before they go out and get themselves completely in the zone of
having a good time. And I want them to sing along, too. It’s that kind of album.”
The album, which she partnered with long-time friend and producer Steve Anderson, started off as them just vibing in the studio, bouncing around various ideas. Then disco took hold, and Euphoria was born!
Our absolute favourite track, one we’d probably go as far as to say was in our top 10 fave tracks of 2023, is the duet Claire does with Delta Goodrem, No More Tears (Enough is Enough), as it gives both the chance to shine and really show off their vocal ranges. It’s also a track you can very easily sing a long to.
The duo even filmed a stunning music video for the track, which showed them in London recording the track and hanging out.
