Only The Poets are back — and they’re swinging for the stars.
The band has released their boldest, most cinematic single yet, ‘You Hate That I’m In Love,’ out now via Capitol Records.
Built on a shimmering rush of synths, heartbreak, and pure emotional urgency, ‘You Hate That I’m In Love’ captures the dizzying chaos of falling apart in real time. Imagine bedroom confessions at 2AM, massive, stadium-ready hooks, and lyrics so raw they almost feel too personal to say out loud. It’s a dancefloor anthem wrapped in neon lights and heartbreak.
Premiered to a roaring crowd during their recent sold-out Stuttgart show, the song quickly became a live favorite even before its official release.
Frontman Tommy Longhurst, who co-wrote the track with Danny Casio (Griff, Rudimental) and JANEVA, explained the deeply personal emotion behind it:
“It’s strange being the one that leaves when you’ve only ever known what it’s like to be left. I wrote this in the mess of that — guilt, freedom, confusion. You think it’s easier on this side but it’s not. Breakups are rarely the same on both sides. Someone always moves on, someone stays bitter. This time I was the former… it was way more confusing to navigate emotionally than I’d ever expected.”
Produced by DanDlion alongside the band, ‘You Hate That I’m In Love’ feels striking, raw, and electrifying — a new high-water mark for a band already riding a major wave.
The single follows the success of their rousing anthem ‘I Keep On Messing It Up,’ which snagged BBC Radio 1’s coveted Tune of the Week, and signals a defining moment in what’s shaping up to be a whirlwind 2025.
With sold-out shows in London, New York, Los Angeles, and across Europe, a powerful new label partnership with Capitol UK and Republic Records, and a tidal wave of new music on the horizon, Only The Poets are officially stepping into their next era.
They’re set to play to over 40,000 fans this year across the UK, US, and EU — and if ‘You Hate That I’m In Love’ is anything to go by, the best (and boldest) is yet to come.
