Amsterdam-based trio MY BABY are back with a powerful new offering, and it’s anything but a quiet ripple. Siren Song, the latest single from their upcoming sixth studio album Echo, sees the genre-bending band plunge deep into myth, emotion, and sonic hypnosis. Scheduled for release on July 11, Echo promises to be one of the band’s most ambitious and thematically resonant projects yet—and Siren Song is the clearest signal so far that this album will explore emotional depth and mythological mystique with striking clarity.

In Siren Song, MY BABY flip the script on a well-worn archetype. The siren, traditionally seen as a femme fatale luring sailors to their doom, is recast not as a villain, but as a soul yearning for connection. “She sings not to destroy,” the band explains, “but to connect, to love and be loved, to pull others into her world, even as they slip away beneath the waves.” This reimagining turns Siren Song into more than just a track—it’s a plea echoing across time and tide, wrapped in ethereal soundscapes and anchored by longing.

Musically, the track is vintage MY BABY, but evolved. Drawing from their signature fusion of roots-driven blues, tribal rhythms, and psychedelic dream-folk, Siren Song is drenched in atmosphere. Think spiritual chants meet desert soul, with hypnotic guitar lines from Daniel “DaFreez” Johnston, Cato van Dijck’s plaintive vocals soaring above it all, and Joost van Dijck’s percussion keeping it grounded like a heartbeat pulsing through deep water. It’s seductive and haunting—just as a siren’s call should be.

As the fourth single from Echo, following earlier releases like A Dream I Dream, Stupid On The Weekend, and Make a Hundred, Siren Song stands out for its storytelling and emotional nuance. Where previous tracks hinted at inner conflict, euphoric abandon, and social commentary, Siren Song threads them all together into a single, aching metaphor. It feels like the thematic core of the album—Echo in its purest, most poignant form.

The trio isn’t just dropping singles and sailing away—they’re also navigating some massive live milestones. On June 25, MY BABY are set to open for none other than Alanis Morissette at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome. Just four days later, they’ll take to the Field of Avalon stage at Glastonbury—one of the most eclectic and magical stages at the legendary festival. And this is only the beginning of a packed live season.

After their summer festival blitz, MY BABY will head out on a UK headline tour in October. The run kicks off in Leeds at The Wardrobe on October 14. It travels through Manchester, Newcastle, Kendal, Glasgow, Exeter, Cardiff, Bristol, and London—where they’ll play Hackney’s Oslo on October 25—before wrapping up at Brighton’s Komedia on October 26. These intimate yet high-energy shows have become something of a rite of passage for fans, known for blending live loop wizardry with spiritual fervour and dancefloor-ready grooves.
