With her debut album What Are The People Gonna Say? due out on 5 September, singer-songwriter Leonie Jakobi continues to build momentum with the release of her newest single, “Come And Roll With Me.” The track features acclaimed guitarist, producer, and solo artist Arielle, whose rich collaborative history includes Brian May, Joe Bonamassa, Vince Gill, and countless other legends. The song marks another standout chapter in what has already been an eclectic and musically rich rollout for Leonie’s first full-length release.
“Come And Roll With Me” was produced by Arielle at her Analog Acres Recording Studio in Nashville. It was co-written by Leonie, Arielle, Nashville songwriter Kris Bergsnes (Tim McGraw), and solo artist Brian Hanlon. The track leans into the gentler side of Americana and country, blending nostalgic instrumentation with a quietly hopeful lyricism. It’s a song about the disorientation of travel, the loneliness of living out of a suitcase—but also the lift that comes from being met by someone who just gets you.
The connection between Leonie and Arielle is immediate and grounded. Both artists have strong solo voices, but on this track, it’s the unity of their harmonies that gives the chorus its weight. There’s a quiet weariness in the verses that builds toward something brighter, making space for Arielle’s textured guitar work and a melody that balances melancholy with warmth.
Leonie says, “‘Come And Roll With Me’ is about the realities of a life in motion – how constant travel challenges relationships and friendships. In some ways, you need more from people, in other ways, less. I spend most of my time on the road – playing shows, working gigs and living out of suitcases – so I know this feeling intimately. It captures that quiet but powerful moment where you stop and courageously ask, ‘This is what I need, can you meet me here? If so, then let’s do it. Come and join me on this exciting journey.’”
This isn’t the first time Leonie has demonstrated a wide stylistic range. The previous singles from What Are The People Gonna Say? have already covered considerable ground. There’s the raw edge of “Don’t Mind Me (While I Give You Up),” which channels defiant rock energy. Then the playful bounce of “The Life My Parents Had,” echoing vintage surf rock tones. “I Deserve To Shine” brings motivational country-rock into focus, while “So Much Love To Go” adds a clean, power-pop shine. Together, these releases have built a portrait of an artist unafraid to move across genres, while maintaining a strong, cohesive sound rooted in live instrumentation and analogue sensibility.
Leonie’s growing reputation as a live performer has been reinforced by recent appearances at the International Pop Overthrow Festival, with two sets at Liverpool’s iconic Cavern Club. She returns to the stage again soon with a slot at the Wokingham Festival, before heading to Germany—her home country—for a special album launch at Dreieichenhain Castle. A UK co-headline tour with Tom Wright follows in November, capping off a year of impressive movement for a debut artist.
