Nathan Sykes will release his long-awaited second solo album, Ultraviolet, on October 17th. It follows his 2016 debut, Unfinished Business, which earned a silver certification and launched his solo career after he was a member of the boy band The Wanted.

Work on the album began in 2017, but plans changed when his bandmate Tom Parker was diagnosed with brain cancer. Nathan put the project on hold to reunite with The Wanted. Together, they released a greatest hits collection, toured UK arenas, and released a tribute version of Gold Forever, which topped the UK Singles Sales Chart after Tom’s passing.

Earlier this year, Nathan returned with the single Pieces of Me and played a sold-out show at London’s Omeara. Now, he shares Getting Lost, a summery new track that captures the feeling of falling in love. Its upbeat sound and bright production make it a natural mid-summer release.

Talking about the single, Nathan said:“‘Getting Lost’ is inspired by the feeling when you’re falling for someone and your brain just … goes places! It’s about embracing the overthinking chaos that happens when love makes your imagination go into overdrive. There’s something so wonderful about letting your mind wander like that, and I wanted to capture that feeling in this track. Musically, I wanted this to feel like summer. I’ve loved making this song feel so carefree and easy to sing along to, with loads of different hooks for everyone to enjoy.”

Ultraviolet reflects everything Nathan has experienced over the past eight years — from the emotional time spent with his bandmates to the personal changes that come with growing older. With his wedding set just before the album’s release, the new songs come from a place of honesty and self-reflection.

Every track was written or co-written by Nathan. His collaborators include producer Tobie Tripp (George Ezra, Tom Grennan), David Sneddon (Lana Del Rey, Lewis Capaldi), Theo Hutchcraft (Calvin Harris, Måneskin), and Anu Pillai (Declan J Donovan, Lewis Capaldi). The album was mixed by Steve Fitzmaurice (Sam Smith).

While Ultraviolet covers a range of emotions, Getting Lost offers a lighter moment — built around a clear melody and Nathan’s distinctive vocal. It sets the tone for what’s to come: a personal, considered record from an artist ready to move forward.

Nathan says, “‘Ultraviolet’ represents a new chapter in my journey, and I truly believe it’s the best work I’ve ever created. For the first time, I’ve been able to strip away all outside influences and expectations to embrace who I am as an artist. I believe that when I’ve been writing this album I’ve been at my most authentic and creatively free, and every track feels like a piece of me. I couldn’t be prouder of the journey to releasing this album, as it’s the truest version of myself I’ve ever been able to share. I hope everyone who listens to ‘Ultraviolet’ will approach this album with an open mind, as I look forward to sharing the full album with them later in the year.”
