Developed with support from leading voices in British theatre, Storms Maybe Snow is a sharp, emotionally-charged exploration of family tension, illness, and the quiet resilience of love. The play opens at Seven Dials Playhouse (16–20 Sept), before moving to The Union Theatre (30 Sept–2 Oct) and The Drayton Arms Theatre (4–8 Nov). Press are welcome from 17 September.
At the centre of the drama are Lou and Jack – a couple bound by decades of inside jokes and late-night feasts, now facing the slow encroachment of Lou’s recent diagnosis. Their humour masks the cracks, but a birthday dinner with their daughter Mariana – and Mariana’s partner Isobel – sends the evening spiralling. What begins in brittle banter quickly fractures under the weight of long-held resentments and unspoken truths.
The cast features Jenny Lloyd-Lyons as Lou Morley, Neil Sellman as Jack, Steph Sarratt as Mariana, and Sarah Cameron-West as Isobel, with Esme Seber as understudy for Mariana and Isobel.
The production marks a return to new writing for director Miranda Lapworth, whose previous works include Busted Flush and Bharat, Blighty & The Bard. A long-time educator, drama coach and theatre-maker, Lapworth trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama after reading English Literature at Oxford. Her company, Lovely, Dark & Deep Productions, champions intimate, emotionally honest work with a strong literary voice.
