Fantastic Negrito has released his new live album, Alive!, capturing performances recorded at shows around the world.
Rather than recreating his songs in the studio, Alive! celebrates the unpredictability of live performance, preserving the moments that can only happen in front of an audience. Recorded across multiple concerts, the album embraces everything from spontaneous musical changes to the energy shared between the band and the crowd.
Alongside the album, Fantastic Negrito has also shared Honest Man as its focus track. The live recording highlights the song’s soulful intensity, building from a slow-burning opening into a powerful finale while showcasing the freedom and improvisation that have become a hallmark of his performances.
Everything and everyone is my teacher. We’re in the age of information and artificial intelligence, where a song can be written by a machine and a voice can be built out of nothing. I wanted the opposite, a record that’s alive, with all its rough edges. I wrote these songs, played them, and sang them live, on stages across the world.”
Speaking about the project, Fantastic Negrito explained that he wanted to create something that stood apart from an increasingly digital world, choosing to celebrate music played live rather than polished to perfection.

The release arrives as the three-time Grammy Award winner continues his international tour, with dates across the United States and Europe throughout the summer.
Since winning NPR’s inaugural Tiny Desk Contest, Fantastic Negrito has built a reputation for blending blues, rock, soul and funk into a distinctive sound, while earning fans through memorable performances at festivals including Glastonbury, Newport Folk Festival, Lollapalooza and WOMAD.
