Proving they are a force to be reckoned with over the past 25 years, the pop legends Steps are the first British mixed-gender group to have a Number 1 album in four consecutive decades, and the fourth group overall after The Rolling Stones, Stereophonics and ABBA.
Steps are celebrating their 25 years in style with another #1 record to add to their collection. The five-piece battled with Manchester rapper Aitch and the Queen of Pop Madonna but managed to hold them off all week to claim the top spot with their Platinum Collection.
Claire, Faye, H, Lee and Lisa, aka Steps, are one of the UK’s most successful and loved acts and this Platinum Collection includes all their biggest and best hits including Heartbeat/Tragedy and Stomp plus epic comeback singles Scared Of The Dark and What The Future Holds alongside classics including One For Sorrow, 5678 and Deeper Shade of Blue.
The Platinum Collection features highlights from Steps’ first three studio albums and smash hits from three further albums over the past five years. Showing no signs of slowing down, this current era of Steps has outlasted their original 1997 to 2001 run.
“We could NOT be more thrilled that our Platinum Collection is this week’s UK official #1 album! We have the best fans in the world, and this is all down to their incredible support. It’s unbelievable to think that we’ve now broken records, scoring four #1 albums across four consecutive decades! What a way to celebrate our 25th birthday”– Steps
