The award-winning Port hotel is teaming up with Samphire Sauna (Port X Samphire) to embrace the growing sauna wellness movement being seen across the South Coast.
This new-wave movement is quickly growing, with beachside saunas running successfully in Folkestone, Brighton, Margate, Bournemouth, Worthing, and Shoreham alongside many others nationwide.
The Port X Samphire collaboration will welcome guests and locals to try out a Nordic-inspired wood-fire sauna experience designed to help you relax, connect with the stunning coastal surroundings and benefit from the healing properties of heat and cold-water therapy.
Port X Samphire Sauna will offer 30-minute or 1-hour taster sessions, allowing guests to relax and unwind in the steamy heat of the sauna, before plunging themselves into an invigorating sea-water dunk.
Beachside saunas like the Port X Samphire collaboration tap into the recent boom in wild / sea swimming and paddleboarding alongside other coastal-based activities, as they work hand in hand not only to “thaw one out”, but also to help repair muscles and release any lactic acid build-up, as well as improving oxygenation as a result of enhanced circulation in the body.

Founded by Peter Cadwallader and Ian and Clive Douglas, Port Hotel & Restaurant is a contemporary boutique hotel situated on the Royal Parade, just a stone’s throw from the beach. The lovingly restored Victorian Townhouse hotel boasts 19 modern
bedrooms with a relaxed restaurant and inviting cocktail bar. Port opened its doors in May 2021 and since then has quickly gained widespread acclaim, receiving an International Hotel & Property Award, and being named in The Sunday Times’ Top 100
British Hotels.
Zoya Jordan from Samphire Sauna talking about The Port X Samphire collaboration in a press release says: “Working with Port feels like a very natural step for us as they are also extremely
interested in forging a close link with the sea. It has been our intention since we first started planning our sauna more than two years ago to be positioned on the beach. There is just something very special about sitting in a wooden sauna cabin, with
heat radiating from a wood-fired stove, and then when you’re hot enough, running into the cold sea spray only a few meters away to cool off – it’s completely elemental (and exhilarating!).
So, we’re delighted to be bringing the Samphire Sauna experience to both Port guests and to the wider Eastbourne community (hello especially to all you sea swimmers) in one of our natural habitats – the glorious coast of East Sussex!”
The Port X Samphire Sauna experience comes ready to go with a qualified sauna attendant on hand to brief customers on how to safely use the sauna before a sauna session, as well as to oversee the sauna fire and to ensure that the sauna is cleaned
effectively before and after each session.
Accommodating up to 5 people at a time, the sessions will be priced at £10 for 30 minutes and £18 for 1 hour. Attendees can also opt for a post-sauna brunch at Port for an extra £16 per person.
The experience will run for 5 hours from 10 am – 3 pm and bookings can be made by contacting Port at hello@stayatport.com
