A talented Horserider and now author, Eneya Jenkins has released her beautiful debut novel One Orange for Infinite Roses.
At age 17 and a senior in high school, the pandemic put a stop to her riding competitively for a while. Like many Eneya found herself with lots of time on her hands. To fill it she can began to write. That writing became her debut novel.
Eneya’s inspiration is based on a true story. It is dedicated to her uncle Irnis Catic who was sadly murdered at the age of 21 just days before the Dayton Accord ended the war. Her Mum, Businesswoman, philanthropist and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Diana Jenkins established The Sanela Diana Jenkins Foundation for Bosnia and Herzegovina in Memory of Irnis Ćatić, her brother.
The Foundation, which is closely associated with the funding of the medical school at the University of Sarajevo, aims to provide financial support for establishing Bosnian schools and orphanages. it is instrumental in building homes, supplying emergency aid & relief, and cleaning the country’s lakes and polluted areas. The Foundation is the largest privately funded Bosnian organization of its kind.
One Orange for Infinite Roses tells the story of Elena and Isaac who live in the city of Sarajevo. They are high school sweethearts. They must navigate not only their budding romance but the backdrop of war as in 1992 the former Yugoslavia and Bosnia and Herzegovina were on the brink of war.
War is an unforgiving thing. It destroys cities, and families; it destroys love. In 1992, in former Yugoslavia, the country of Bosnia and Herzegovina faced war. No more high school sweethearts, no more worrying about what you’ll wear on your first date, nothing.
In the city of Sarajevo lived Elena–the girl who always kept to herself and stayed on her own path, that is, until she started high school. Somehow always thinking she knew what she wanted her life to be like, but never calming the ocean of her thoughts to come up with one answer.
Isaac, on the other hand, was the boy who lived through chaos effortlessly. The boy who found peace in the chaos, who made life look effortless with his good looks, swaying charm, and perfect grades. Everything was as easy as breathing for him until it wasn’t.
From the seed of a high school, romance grows something much bigger as Isaac and Elena learn to battle their new realities. Will they come out unharmed? Or will the war take its toll on souls far too young to experience such a thing?
