The Jacques are back in full swing, sharpening their edge and expanding their sonic playground with the hauntingly catchy new single ‘Dead Man’s Garden’, the latest cut from their upcoming album ‘Make Repetition!’, out July 11th.
Following the success of ‘Via Dolorosa’ — which earned spins on BBC 6 Music and glowing reviews from The Line of Best Fit — ‘Dead Man’s Garden’ delivers a twisted little slice of garage-rock noir. Think gothic grit, desert haze, and a hypnotic swirl of organs thrown into an alt-rock blender, shaken (not stirred) with a swinging rhythm and just the right amount of existential dread.
Lead singer Finn O’Brien explains the inspiration came from a moment of eerie, everyday poetry: “I wrote this song after my elderly neighbour died and no-one moved into the house for months. His garden grew pretty wild and the title reared its head. It’s about the strange emotion that blooms when new life bursts through the shadow of loss — morbid beauty, but with a beat you can dance to.”
Produced by Dan Swift (Snow Patrol, Biffy Clyro), and co-written with brother Elliot O’Brien and multi-instrumentalist Harry Thomas, the song builds The Jacques’ second album into a deeply layered record, balancing bright indie-pop energy with darker, post-punk meditations.

Having already shared stages with The Libertines, Nova Twins, and played fests like Glastonbury, Leeds, and SXSW, The Jacques are now gearing up to tour Europe with none other than Public Image Ltd.. Before that, fans can catch them at two intimate, free-entry shows in Windsor and Pilton and hear ‘Dead Man’s Garden’ and many more of the bands tracks live.
