If you haven’t heard the name Pedro Santos yet, you soon will. The Portuguese-born, UK-based singer-songwriter has officially launched his solo career with the release of his debut single, Someone I Don’t Know, available now via BKM Artists.
Written by Pedro alongside Josh Oliver, Someone I Don’t Know has been mixed by Grammy Award-winning producer Dan Grech (Tom Grennan, Dua Lipa, Liam Gallagher) and co-produced by Pete Robertson (The Vaccines, beabadoobee, Crawlers) and Harry Winks (South Arcade). With a team like that behind him, it’s clear Pedro isn’t just stepping into the spotlight — he’s making a serious impression.
The song explores the ache of emotional disconnection, even when physically close to others. “I wrote Someone I Don’t Know in LA with a friend of mine when I felt like even in a crowd, I was alone,” Pedro shared. “It’s about longing for a partner who brings out the best in you. People often say you need to become your best self alone before seeking love, but I’ve always believed that the right person can help you discover parts of yourself you never even knew existed.”
It’s a heartfelt introduction that sets the tone for Pedro’s solo journey. “I wanted to allow people to really understand how I felt in that precise moment and thought it was a good way of starting the story of what I had been feeling ever since I began writing for this project.”
Before going solo, Pedro was a member of the boy band Here At Last, who sold out the iconic Shepherd’s Bush Empire and performed at BST Hyde Park in London. Following the group’s split last year, Pedro took time to refine his songwriting and artistic direction — and now, he’s ready to take centre stage.
With more music scheduled for release this year, Pedro’s momentum is building fast. He’s already locked in live shows and festival appearances, including a slot at All Points East in London on August 23, where he’ll join a stellar line-up featuring Raye, Tyla, Doechii, and Jade. He also spent three weeks on tour across Europe supporting alt-rock band Only The Poets, where he met fans at impromptu meet-and-greets and further solidified his rapidly growing online community, which now boasts 1.5 million TikTok followers and over 500,000 on Instagram.
With undeniable talent, a clear artistic vision, and an ever-expanding fanbase, Pedro Santos is a name to remember — and Someone I Don’t Know is only the beginning.
