Louis Tomlinson recently released a surprise album called Live. The album chronicles his live shows over the past three years as he toured the world twice.
It’s an ode to live music and his fans, who have avidly supported his career.
He started his career by singing live weekly on the singing reality TV show The X Factor with his One Direction bandmates. During his five-year tenure in the band, he went on to tour the world, so he is no stranger to live performance.
This Live album is his journey as a live performer. It features guitar and drum-led riffs, confident vocals, and a safe space for fans to lose themselves in his music, forget the world for a while, and scream his lyrics back to him. It loudly and proudly shows the connection he has with them and them with him and the lyrics he writes.
The new album features 15 songs and spans 14 cities and 5 continents. It was produced by Steve Durham, Louis’s musical director on tour and also drummer in his band. A guy whose crazy drum skills in Out of My System had us seriously considering learning to play the drums until we realised we could never look as cool and effortless as Steve.
Louis, as a solo artist, is something very special to witness. From our first time seeing him live as a solo artist at The Wardrobe in Leeds to his first full headline show at Scala London, to a hometime gig in Doncaster to his current second world tour, from grassroots venues to selling-out stadiums, all with little support from mainstream media and radio across the world. Louis Tomlinson is a phenomenal live artist.
His relationship with his fans via his live shows was recently documented in an epic and beautiful fan initiative, a book called The Love It Takes: The Influence of Louis Tomlinson. It features photos, poems and stories from over 250 fans worldwide. Painstakingly crafted and expertly curated by Skylar Burton over many months, it shows why Louis has had his fans’ loyalty for so many years, from the fans themselves.
Currently touring LATAM, Louis, for the first time in his career, will appear at numerous musical festivals this year and host his own Away From Home Festival for the fourth year. Where the likes of Kevin Kaarl, DMA’s, Dylan, Gibby and Revrend & The Makers grace the stage.
