Way before Louis Tomlinson became the fantastic singer and lyricist we all admire, he still loved to perform, whether acting on screen or in musical theatre roles during his school years.
We thought we’d have a bit of fun and think of roles we’d love to see Louis take on if he ever fancied a change from selling out arenas and stadiums worldwide to selling out West End and Broadway theatres instead.
Grease
Grease is a bit of a brainer as it’s well-known Louis performed in Grease when he was in school and has previously said it helped him realise he wanted to perform as he loved the buzz it gave him. So we would love to see them don a T-Birds jacket again and take on the role of Danny Zuko again.
Choir of Man
Choir of Man is a one-of-a-kind show. It has a real working bar on the stage, and you can get a pint on it. There isn’t really a plot. But it’s about nine guys in a pub choir. Features some great songs and has lots of cast/audience interaction. It promotes really connecting with people. It’s a feel-good show that people return to see again and again. Lots of fans of the show have become friends due to their shared love of the show. Much like Louies world wide have. We’d love to see Louis take on the role of The Poet. The Poet is the narrator of the show and keeps it flowing, and we think, given how natural and charismatic Louis is he’d make a great Poet.
& Juliet
A modern retelling of Romeo and Juliet focuses on the question of what would have happened if Juliet had survived. With a score full of well-known modern pop songs. We think it would be fun to see Louis take on the role of Romeo.
Moulin Rouge
Moulin Rouge is another musical that combines an epic story with much-loved pop songs. We think Louis would make a Christian; he plays Satine’s love interest in this high energy show that’s all about love.
Redcliffe
Redcliffe is a brand-new musical that is currently in production. With book, music and lyrics by Jordan Luke Gage it is based on the true events of William Critchard and Richard Arnold in 1753, Redcliffe is an epic tale of forbidden love in spite of the persecution people faced. We have seen this musical twice now while Jordan is developing it, and it’s absolutely breathtaking. We would love to see Louis in this as we think he would make a great Richard.
If he were ever to do musical theatre, what role would you love to see him play? Let us know on @tbhonest_uk!
